NEWS & UPDATES
Art News!
Art Show – Thursday 29th October
The wonderful posters for the Art Show have been printed, a big thank you to Sarah Dunk (Grace’s mum) for creating them for us, they look fabulous! The Art Show will be on Thursday 29th of October with the food stalls operating from 5pm and the official ceremony commencing at 6pm. Each student will have at least one 2D art work framed on display. You will be able to purchase your child’s framed artwork and prices will range from $5 – $20, depending on the size of the frame.  There is no obligation to buy your child’s framed artwork and if you choose not to, your child’s work will still be returned to them at the end of the school year unframed.
Thank you also to the many people who have volunteered to help.  It is fantastic to receive so much support from our fabulous school community! We have a number of people coming in to help hang the show on Tuesday 27th October, thank you.  We will be taking down the work on Saturday October 31st from 10:30am.  At this stage we are still looking for a few more people to come on this day so the job can be done as quickly as possible. If you are available on that Saturday morning, please let me know.
Another big thank you to Graeme and Mulynda who have been really busy working with the choir and the rock band in preparation for their performance at the art show.  I’m really looking forward to seeing their performance on the night!  Graeme has also been recording and mixing a CD of the students performing which will be available for purchase on the night.  From what I have heard so far, it sounds amazing and the students involved are really enjoying being part of this process so an extra big thank you to Graeme for all the extra hours he is putting in to ensure the CD sounds as professional as possible.
I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at the Art Show!

Parents and Friends Exhibition
Part of the Art Show, Thursday 29th October
A big thank you to those of you who have indicated that they would like to be part of the PFA Exhibition curated by Foundation parent, Nicola Cowling (Luther’s mum).  We are asking people to bring in their work for the PFA Exhibition on either Monday 26th or Tuesday 27th October.  All work will need to be labelled with your name and your child’s name so we are able to return it to you after the art show.  Please also include the artist’s name and title of the work.  I’m really looking forward to seeing the amazing work that has been created by our talented school community.  For further information regarding the PFA exhibition please contact Nicola Cowling.

Monster Auction Help Needed!
As most of you know the Parents and Friends Association drives the fundraising at Newlands.
The Monster Auction is a great initiative that has helped to do this over the last few years. This year it will be held again at our Annual Comedy Gala night, an excellent night not to be missed!
Organisers are looking for any prizes, services, or vouchers you may be able to contribute.
We are looking for talented Newlands parents with skills! This can be something simple as a providing haircut or mowing a lawn.
Or if you know of any local businesses which may be able to donate any goods or services/vouchers please contact Tash.
The more we collect the more money we have to spend for our school!
